Equality Fest’s main festival is a day long, family friendly community, arts & cultural celebration held in Downtown York City to celebrate the passage of marriage equality and to encourage full inclusion of ALL York and Pennsylvania citizens in all aspects of civic life. Inspired by the May 20, 2014 decision of the U.S. Federal District Court allowing marriages for those within the LGBTQIA+ community, the Equality Fest Board joins forces annually with several like minded organizations, faith communities, retailers, artists, politicians and committed citizens to produce a full day which fosters connections, awareness and activism within the beautifully diverse citizenship of southcentral PA.

This event is free and open to the public. The festival features speakers, music, dance, theater, poetry, spoken word and performance art as well as live visual art, strolling performers, a fully interactive children’s area with games and activities, retail vendors, informational and organizational displays and a variety of food trucks. The event actively celebrates the full inclusion of ALL wonderfully diverse citizens in ALL aspects of civic life - regardless of race, age, gender, gender expression, mental or physical ability, social status, economic status or sexual orientation.
