Community Involvement

Giving Back to our Community

The Harrisburg Gay Men’s Chorus (HGMC) is proud to be part of the Central Pennsylvania LGBT community. We believe being part of a community means we must be active participants if we are to make it more accepting and inclusive.

We lead by example and that’s why we give back to our community in a multitude of ways.

FREE CONCERTS – The Harrisburg Gay Men's Chorus is taking an active role in helping make the ARTS more accessible to all by presenting our winter and spring concerts free of charge to the public.

PHILANTHROPY – since 2006, the HGMC has hosted Voices United, a benefit performance that serves as the opening ceremonies for the Pride Festival of Central PA. All proceeds from this event are donated to the Pride Festival itself, helping to ensure its continued success.

CHARITY - in 2018, the HGMC hosted a benefit concert with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington DC, raising funds and awareness for the LGBT Center of Central PA.

PARTICIPATION – HGMC members take part in the annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, raising funds for local health care organizations.

OUTREACH – HGMC members take an active role in the local Sharing Our Caring program by donating food, cooking and serving a free dinner and providing the evening’s entertainment to those living with HIV/AIDS in our community.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT – The HGMC proudly performs the National Anthem each year during LGBT Night for both the Harrisburg Senators and the York Revolution baseball teams, and regularly participates in the local Pride Festivals of Central PA, Lancaster and York. We also perform a free holiday concert in December of each year at the Harrisburg Capitol Rotunda, providing positive visability to the governmental leaders of Pennsylvania.

ASSOCIATIONS We are active members within both the Keystone Business Alliance (the LGBT Chamber of Commerce in Central PA) and GALA Choruses (an association of over 180 member LGBT choruses located throughout North America, Europe, South America, Africa and Australia).
