Kyle J. Weary is recognized as a leader in teaching music literacy and contemporary commercial music. Currently a PhD Music Education student at Auburn University, Kyle attained a Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Conducting from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, and is a graduate of the Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute.
Kyle is currently the Director of Choirs in South Middleton School District, and Director of Music at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg in addition to being the Artistic Director of the Harrisburg Gay Men’s Chorus. Prior to his current positions he was the Director of Choirs and founder of the Vocal Music Program at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts in Hagerstown, Maryland. He has served on the faculties at Shepherd University, Harrisburg Area Community College and Hagerstown Community College, was a guest conductor for The Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and conducted several honor choirs in Cumberland County (PA), Prince George’s County (MD), Allegany County (MD) Washington County (MD), Vermont (VT-ACDA).
Kyle has been involved in musical theatre since high school, and has directed or music directed numerous productions including the including regional premieres of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, as well as receiving music and stage direction credits for many local theatre productions. As a performer Kyle has appeared on stage with Marvin Hamlisch, Julie Andrews, Elaine Stritch, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Dana Reeves, Barbara Cook, Sam Freed and David Masenheimer.
